7 Colours Sunday Lunch With Hearty Beef Stew & Rice

Rice Ingredients

250 ml (1 cup) Tastic Long Grain Parboiled Rice

Fresh Parsley (optional)

1 tsp (5ml) Salt

6 cups water



Hearty Beef Stew Ingredients

1 kg beef stewing meat

1 onion, chopped

1 red pepper, chopped

1 tbsp crushed garlic

1 bag potjie mix (potato & veg)

2 tbsp cooking oil

1 tbsp Mild and Spicy Curry powder

1/2 cube beef stock (curry flavoured)

2 tbsp steak and chops spice

1 Hearty Beef Stew Dry Cook-In Sauce.

400ml water


7 Colours Sunday Lunch With Hearty Beef Stew & Rice

Rice Method

  1. Place the Tastic rice, water and salt into a pot.
  2. Bring to boil, uncovered.
  3. Boil on the stove for 20–25 minutes (Keep checking, so that you don’t overcook the rice).
  4. Remove from the heat, drain the excess water.
  5. Add some fresh parsley on the rice to garnish.


Hearty Beef Stew Ingredients Method

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a pot.
  2. Add meat with salt and brown for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the onion, red pepper and crushed garlic.
  4. Add the curry and steak & chops spice and mix together.
  5. Mix beef stock in a cup of hot water, pour into the pot and mix together.
  6. Let it boil for 10–15 minutes.
  7. Lower the heat from high to medium, add the dry cook-in sauce with the remaining water.
  8. Add the potjie mix.
  9. Cook for about 30–40 minutes on low heat.

When ready, place on a dish with rice and serve with your favourite sides of cold salads and hot veggies.
