Bonnet is a premium quality, long grain rice, absorbing twice its original volume as it cooks, which is why it is the most widely used all-purpose rice. BONNET RICE 4 - 6 Servings
- 250 ml (1 cup) Tastic Rices of the World Bonnet Rice, uncooked
- 1 2⁄2 litres (6 cups) Water
- 3-5 ml (1⁄2-1 tsp) Salt
Stove: Soak Tastic Rices of the World Bonnet rice in cold water for 15 minutes. Drain excess water and rinse lightly. Bring water and salt to the boil. Add rice. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 - 14 minutes, uncovered. Drain excess water and rinse under cold running water.
Return rice to a pot and cover with a tight fitting lid. Steam on low heat for 5 - 10 minutes. For softer rice, add more water and cook for a further 5 minutes.
Microwave: Place Tastic Rices of the World Bonnet rice, boiling water and salt in a micro-wavable dish. Cook on high for 20 minutes. Transfer cooked rice to a sieve or colander and allow to stand for 5 minutes before serving.
